Lampeter, Wales – On Sunday, August 11, 2024, British Wheel of Yoga Wales (BWY Wales) in collaboration with The Harmony Institute at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) will host the highly anticipated Welsh Dragon Yoga Festival. This unique event will unfold both at the scenic Lampeter campus and online, promising a transformative day centered around the theme ‘Yoga in Action’.
The festival offers a rare opportunity for yoga enthusiasts and newcomers alike to engage in enlightening discussions led by esteemed local yoga practitioners and scholars from UWTSD. Key topics include the profound impact of yoga within prison settings, its therapeutic benefits on mental health, and practical strategies for incorporating yoga principles into daily life.
Participants at the Lampeter campus can indulge in two physical practice sessions. In the morning, Mary Wyville, co-director of Movement Intelligence UK, will guide attendees through exercises focused on enhancing bone strength and maintaining postural integrity. Later in the day, BWY award-winner Lynne Jones will lead a session on Kriya Yoga, emphasizing yoga’s transformative power through action.
Diana O’Reilly, Chair of BWY, expressed her enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are thrilled to collaborate once again with The Harmony Institute to bring this enriching experience to Wales. Yoga in Action transcends physical postures; it empowers individuals to apply yoga’s wisdom in ways that positively impact lives and communities.”
Dr. Nicholas Campion, Director of The Harmony Institute and Associate Professor at UWTSD, echoed this sentiment, remarking, “Our partnership with British Wheel of Yoga is a testament to our shared commitment to health and well-being. This collaboration will undoubtedly benefit our institute and the broader university community.”
Tickets for the in-person event are priced at £55 for BWY members and £65 for non-members, while online participation costs £20 for members and £30 for non-members. The festival promises to be a day of learning, growth, and community, welcoming all individuals interested in exploring the transformative power of yoga.
