Vadodara, Oct 28 (PTI) — Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the enduring cultural and social ties between India and Spain during the inauguration of the Tata Aircraft Complex for manufacturing C295 aircraft in Vadodara on Monday.
Yoga enjoys immense popularity in Spain, while Spanish football captivates fans in India,” Modi remarked, highlighting the shared interests that enhance bilateral relations. He noted the recent football match between Real Madrid and Barcelona, which sparked conversations across India, illustrating the shared enthusiasm of fans in both countries.
Modi elaborated on the multifaceted partnership between India and Spain, stating, “From cuisine and cinema to sports, our strong people-to-people connect has always reinforced our ties.” He expressed delight over the decision to celebrate 2026 as the India-Spain Year of Culture, Tourism, and Artificial Intelligence, marking a commitment to deepen collaboration in these areas.
The Prime Minister also paid tribute to Father Carlos Valles, a Spanish-Indian Jesuit priest who lived in Gujarat for fifty years and contributed significantly to literature and mathematics in Gujarati. Modi acknowledged Valles’ cultural contributions, noting that the Indian government honored him with the Padma Shri award.
Concluding his address, Modi expressed optimism that the establishment of the Tata-Airbus facility in Vadodara would pave the way for new collaborative projects between India and Spain, further solidifying their partnership.
