Bilaspur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the new super specialty hospital at the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) and laid the foundation stone for the Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy (CRIYN) in Raipur. During the event, he announced the launch of development projects totaling approximately Rs 12,850 crore and expanded the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme to include all senior citizens aged 70 and above.
The newly established 240-bed super specialty unit in Bilaspur was constructed at a cost of Rs 200 crore. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai highlighted the government’s commitment to comprehensive development across education, health, and employment sectors, affirming their dedication to fulfilling promises made under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
The super specialty unit is equipped with advanced medical technologies, including CT scans, MRIs, digital X-rays, color Doppler TMT machines, and 70 ICU and ICCU beds. Additionally, eight modular operation theatres have been built. The facility will also feature four outpatient departments (OPDs) focusing on neurology, neurosurgery, pulmonology, and general medicine, along with blood bank and pathology lab services.
State Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal provided details about the CRIYN in Raipur, which will be a 100-bed facility with a budget of Rs 90 crore, expected to be completed within 24 months. The state government has allocated 10 acres of land for the AYUSH department to establish this center, which will serve as Chhattisgarh’s first yoga and naturopathy research center, targeting non-communicable diseases.
The institute will also offer certification courses in wellness therapy and fellowship programs in research, aimed at generating new insights into the benefits of yoga and naturopathy, Jaiswal noted.
