Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his latest radio address, underscored the widespread enthusiasm observed globally during the 10th International Day of Yoga on June 21. He particularly noted the active participation of locals in a yoga program he led in Srinagar.
“As the celebration of Yoga Day unfolds, new milestones continue to be achieved. The event has garnered significant achievements worldwide. In a historic first for Saudi Arabia, Al Hanouf Saad led the common yoga protocol,” PM Modi remarked.
He emphasized that this marked the inaugural occasion of a Saudi woman guiding a main yoga session. “This year in Egypt, a photo competition was also organized in conjunction with Yoga Day,” he added.
Furthermore, Modi highlighted the pivotal role played by tribal heroes in India’s struggle for independence, noting the observance of ‘Hool Diwas’ on June 30 in tribal regions. “This day commemorates the unwavering bravery of Veer Sidhu-Kanhu, who united thousands of Santhal compatriots in a spirited resistance against the British in 1855, two years prior to India’s first war of independence in 1857,” the Prime Minister elaborated.
Modi’s radio address served to underscore the growing global resonance of yoga and the enduring legacy of India’s freedom fighters in shaping the nation’s history.
