JAMMU, Aug 25: The Jammu District Yoga Sports Championship 2024, organized by the Yoga Association of Jammu & Kashmir under the aegis of the J&K Olympic Association, successfully concluded at Brahma Kumari’s Om Shanti Meditation Centre in Jammu. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 240 young yoga athletes, both boys and girls, representing various schools and institutions across the district.
Inauguration and Key Guests
The championship was inaugurated with a candle-lighting ceremony by the Brahma Kumaris. Rajyogini B.K. Sudarshan Didi graced the occasion as the chief guest, while B.K. Ravinder Bali served as the guest of honour. Medals and certificates were awarded to the winners by the guests in the presence of Secretary General Vinod Bhatia and other association members. During the event, speakers emphasized the importance of yoga and encouraged the participants to prepare diligently for the upcoming 5th J&K UT Yoga Sports Championship 2024.
Winners in the Boys’ Categories
In the boys’ categories, the top positions were secured by the following participants:
- 8-10 years: Dhayaan Sharma
- 10-12 years: Navjot Singh
- 12-14 years: Banshu Sharma
- 14-16 years: Lakshya Mahajan
- 16-18 years: Surender Rajput
- 18-21 years: Himanshu Verma
Victors Among the Girls
In the girls’ categories, the winners were:
- 8-10 years: Harshita Mandla
- 10-12 years: Ananya Kotwal
- 12-14 years: Sadhya Sharma
- 14-16 years: Anahita
- 16-18 years: Akriti Singh
- 18-21 years: Sunakshi Rajput
In the 21-25 age category, Nitika Sharma clinched the first position.
Officiating and Judging
The championship was officiated by national referees and judges from the Yoga Federation, including Mukesh Sharma, Aryaaveer Singh, Sonia Sharma, Sabita Sharma, Anushka Koul, Sunita Raina, and Veena Chib.
