Bowling Green, KY — On Thursday, October 24, Western Kentucky University’s Housing and Residence Life (HRL) held its third annual Goat Yoga event at the First Year Village Lawn, offering students a unique opportunity to engage in yoga alongside friendly goats from Westbrook Farms.
The event, organized by Chad Lawhorn, HRL area coordinator for Pearce Ford Tower, Hugh Poland Hall, and Douglas Keen Hall, aimed to create a fun and relaxing atmosphere for students. Lawhorn expressed his desire to foster connections with students since returning to WKU as a professional after graduating.
“We want to provide events that allow our students to take a break, enjoy some fresh air, and connect with friends,” Lawhorn stated.
Inspired by the growing trend of goat yoga among young people, Lawhorn noted the positive feedback from participants. “I’ve had students come to me in tears, sharing that this was on their bucket list,” he said, reflecting on the event’s emotional impact.
Students expressed enthusiasm for the experience. Savannah Miller, a freshman psychology major, shared her excitement: “I thought it was a really cute idea. I’ve never done yoga with goats, and I always saw people doing it.”
With smiles abounding, Lawhorn confirmed the event’s success, stating, “I can’t even count all the smiling faces we see.” The Goat Yoga event not only provided a memorable experience for students but also highlighted the university’s commitment to enhancing student well-being.
