A Canfield-based yoga studio, Studio Oxygen, is stepping up to support victims of Hurricane Helene through its ROCKtober Workshops, which will benefit Flow at Foundy, a yoga and fitness studio in Asheville, North Carolina.
Flow at Foundy, which opened in March, was tragically destroyed by the hurricane. The studio, owned by Megan Parker and Erin Stefanacci, was dedicated to fostering connection, well-being, and strength within its community. Emily Ramm, the coordinator at Studio Oxygen, noted, “Our owners love to vacation in Asheville and frequently visit local yoga studios. When the hurricane struck, they reached out to see how the yoga community was faring and whether any studios had been impacted.”
Through their outreach, the owners connected with Parker and Stefanacci, who shared the devastating news of their studio’s destruction. “Since then, we’ve made it our mission to raise awareness about their situation and generate funds to assist them whenever possible,” Ramm explained. She emphasized the essence of yoga, which means ‘to unite,’ as a motivating force for the staff at Studio Oxygen to come together with Flow at Foundy.
Ramm also highlighted the personal connection Studio Oxygen’s owners, Will and Esther Buschau, have to this cause, having faced similar challenges when their own businesses were shut down. “They never forgot that hardship and the community support that helped them endure,” Ramm stated. “When we saw the newly opened studio, which had just launched in March, destroyed, we felt compelled to reach out.”
The ROCKtober Workshops will take place on Saturday, October 26, featuring two sessions at Poland Studio, located at 1714 Boardman-Poland Road, Poland, OH 44514. The first session, Core Fire, runs from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM and is led by master instructor Ashley Jade. This intense class focuses on building core strength through bodyweight drills and functional movements, designed for participants of all levels. The investment for this session is $35.
The second workshop, Inversions & Arm Balances, will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, also under the guidance of Ashley Jade. This session aims to help participants approach advanced postures such as crow, headstand, and forearm stand with confidence and strength, integrating techniques from the morning class. The cost for this workshop is $75.
“These workshops provide a chance to enhance your yoga practice while supporting a fellow studio in need,” Ramm said. “Let’s unite as a community and demonstrate that we can rebuild more than just walls; we can restore hope.”
