This weekend marks the return of Cork’s beloved outdoor yoga event, as Fitzgerald Park prepares to host Yoga in the Park starting Saturday, July 6th. Organized by the team at Himalaya Yoga Valley, this weekly gathering will take place at 10 am every Saturday, weather permitting, through August 31st, right in front of the park’s iconic bandstand.
Yoga in the Park isn’t just about exercise; it’s also a community-driven initiative aimed at supporting Cork’s homeless population through donations to the Cork Simon Community. Participants of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to join, regardless of prior yoga experience.
Over the past decade, Yoga in the Park has become a cornerstone of Cork’s summer activities, raising over €80,000 in support of Cork Simon Community. Each week, up to 200 yoga enthusiasts assemble to contribute to this charitable cause.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the upcoming season, Maeve O’Brien, Director of Himalaya Yoga Valley, shared, “We’re thrilled to kick off another season of Yoga in the Park! For close to 10 years, it has been an incredible journey seeing our community come together, stretching and smiling every Saturday morning for Cork Simon Community. It’s truly magical to witness people of all ages and fitness levels joining forces for such a wonderful cause.”
Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or a first-timer, mark your calendars and join the community at Fitzgerald Park this Saturday to stretch for a cause and be part of something special.
