Glasgow, UK – Embracing the unconventional, Kali Collective yoga studio in Glasgow is preparing to host a unique event that merges the tranquility of yoga with the intensity of gothic music. Scheduled for August 2nd, the ‘Gothy Sound & Movement Immersion’ promises a 75-minute journey set to the dark and moody tunes of Nine Inch Nails, Mogwai, and Nick Cave.
Described as an opportunity to delve into new bodily sensations and emotions guided by the evocative music, participants can also opt for an aerial silk experience. This allows them to engage in an elongated savasana, or corpse pose, while suspended in silk.
Steph Wall, founder of Kali Collective, will take on dual roles as DJ and instructor, leading attendees through restorative postures. In an interview with the Herald, Wall shared that the idea for the workshop stemmed from a desire to challenge conventional yoga trends.
“I wanted to do something different,” Wall explained. “Sound baths were becoming ubiquitous, and I felt compelled to offer an alternative experience that resonates with our community. This class is for those who, like me, appreciate the unconventional.”
Reflecting on the broader trend towards immersive wellness, the event aligns with industry movements highlighted by blooloop. Innovations such as an immersive spa in Texas underscore a growing interest in technology-enhanced wellbeing experiences, a concept discussed at length by experts like Lindsay Madden-Nadeau of Red Sea Global at a recent greenloop event.
For Wall, however, the focus remains on creating an immersive and deeply personal yoga experience. “Yoga should be about exploration and connection,” she emphasized. “It’s about embracing your own journey and finding what speaks to you.”
The ‘Gothy Sound & Movement Immersion’ represents not just a unique fitness opportunity but a reflection of evolving preferences in wellness practices. As Wall invites participants to embrace this unconventional fusion of yoga and gothic music, she hopes to inspire a new wave of wellness enthusiasts to explore and expand their practice.
