Shimla, Himachal Pradesh – In a bid to foster patriotism and enhance physical well-being among students, the Himachal Pradesh government has introduced new mandates for schools across the state. Effective immediately, singing the national anthem during morning assemblies is compulsory in both private and state-run schools. Additionally, schools must unfurl the national flag daily as part of these morning sessions.
A statement from the state government issued on Tuesday emphasized the importance of these practices in instilling a sense of national pride among students. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu highlighted that these initiatives aim to nurture responsible citizenship and unity among the younger generation.
Furthermore, the government has made Yoga and Physical Education (PE) mandatory subjects in school curriculums. Students will now dedicate at least 15 minutes each day to physical exercise as part of their routine. The move, according to the Chief Minister, is designed not only to improve physical health but also to integrate values of unity and integrity into the education system.
In collaboration with the Health and Ayush departments, the government plans to equip students with essential life-saving skills such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid. These initiatives are part of a broader commitment by the state government to provide holistic education that balances academic excellence with physical fitness, national pride, and civic responsibility.
“These reforms are aimed at building a more resilient and patriotic future generation,” the statement concluded, underlining the government’s vision for a unified and empowered youth.
This initiative marks a significant step towards integrating national values and physical well-being into the daily lives of students across Himachal Pradesh, reflecting the state’s proactive approach to education reform.
