Poughkeepsie, NY — The Yoga House, a welcoming studio dedicated to making yoga accessible to all, is set to open its third location in Poughkeepsie in the spring of 2025. This new studio follows the successful launch of a Highland location last September, building on the Kingston-based business’s commitment to serving diverse communities.
Founded over a decade ago by Leigha Butler and Jacqueline Nash, The Yoga House has become a cornerstone of wellness in the Hudson Valley. Current owners Joyce San Pedro and Amy Reed took over during the pandemic, bringing their passion for yoga and community to the forefront. “Yoga at its core is about community and connection,” Reed stated. “Our motto is to offer safe and inclusive classes for every body, and we are grateful to extend this mission to a wider audience.”
With a variety of classes designed for all levels, The Yoga House emphasizes both the practical and philosophical aspects of yoga, incorporating principles of alignment and biomechanics while honoring the tradition’s global roots. San Pedro and Reed, who are both seasoned yoga practitioners, aim to create a nurturing environment where individuals of all ages and backgrounds feel welcome.
The new studio, located at South Crossing Road on Route 9, will span 1,400 square feet and features a thoughtfully designed interior, including commuter-friendly bathrooms with showers. Designed by architect Jay Diesing and developed by Cameron Group, LLC, the space is poised to become a community hub for wellness.
Kevin Langan, leasing and development partner at Cameron Group, LLC, expressed confidence in the new location, stating, “Amy’s and Joyce’s dedication and incredible business model will surely make The Yoga House’s third studio a resounding success.”
In addition to its signature yoga classes, the Poughkeepsie location will introduce strength-building and conditioning classes, such as Pilates, Barre, and TRX, further emphasizing the owners’ commitment to providing tailored fitness experiences.
“We truly mean it when we say yoga for every body,” San Pedro said. “Our classes are not one-size-fits-all; we encourage each individual to find the practice that best suits them at any stage of their yoga journey.”
The Yoga House currently operates studios in Highland and Kingston, with plans to enrich the Poughkeepsie community starting in 2025.
